Google Is Developing A Smart Contact Lenses

Google Is Developing A Smart Contact Lenses

As part of its interesting range of inventions courtesy its Google X team which manufactures unique life-changing inventions, smart contact lenses appear to be Google’s latest offering after its online glasses monopoly appeared to be threatened by a rival company.

Google glasses did seem to be the only smart glasses to look forward to, and even seemed to be the latest and only invention in the fashion glasses category, however a rival company came up with better quality smart glasses and even contact lens which cost considerably less than Google’s prices. The smart contact lenses therefore, are its attempt to make a comeback and also, to let the competition know that they have not won. The lenses have been designed by mounting very small chips onto flexible film, which resembles thin plastic sheets.

The chip and sensor are then embedded between a dual layer of contact lenses material, with the inclusion of a small pinhole that allows tears to seep into a microscopic glucose sensor. The prototype serves to aid those with diabetes to monitor their glucose levels every second, thanks to the lenses. This will aid diabetes patients who find it troublesome to monitor their sugar levels the opportunity to do so without pricking himself or herself for regular monitoring devices.
