Futuristic glasses are sure to give current market leader, Google, and its Google glass, some competition this year. January 14th 2014 saw the launch of a new type of glasses lenses whose features rival Google glass’s existing offerings by a long shot.
Combining the look of fashion eyeglasses with technological features that can only be described as brilliant, these new glasses cover the entire eye and are part of the iOptik company’s offering of technologically advanced eyewear systems. The current prototype offer up to 6 times the pixel quality and up to 46 times the screen size of average mobile products, and are integrated with flat-panels/micro-projectors which permit the viewer to view and create what is being termed as a “visual canvas” which is inclusive of digital media such as maps, social media, and photographs.
The contact lenses from the iOptik line offer enhanced focusing abilities to the wearer, and allows both long as well as short distance viewing options. It is predicted that the iOptik system will serve as tough competition to Google Glass, which, while competent, will be threatened by the fact that iOptik is offering full viewing options to the wearer rather than Google Glass’s mini panel which only allows limited, rather than full screen viewing.
